Despite numerous obstacles, Crockett Theatre decided to push forward and participate in the University Interscholastic League’s One Act Play competition this year with their show, WIT.

The play follows Vivian Bearing, a witty and lonely English professor played by junior Sydney Homerstad, and her battle with stage four ovarian cancer, with themes of mortality and humanity.

Crockett Theatre is kicking off the year with not one, but two entirely new directors to fill the position of ten-year director Christina Burbank after she stepped down, and the students say they are excited.

Due to the program’s recent growth, Mark Fowler and Raymond Wortel were both able to join tech director Michelle Ferrier in a collaboration that keeps Crockett putting on shows. Fowler will have a heavier focus on acting and technique while Wortel will be in charge of the more musical aspects of theatre.
